Rebecca S. has always prioritized the needs of others before her own. For 20 years, helping others came in the form of active service in the US Military. Rebecca credits that experience with teaching her how to get things done efficiently, a skill that’s paid off ever since she learned about TaskRabbit last year. As a disabled veteran on a fixed income, tasking has provided Rebecca with a way to continue her mission of serving others, while earning some extra money on the side. Learn more about her story below.

Why did you become a Tasker?
Simply put, I love to help others in need, any way I can.
How did you find out about TaskRabbit?
I was looking for gig work opportunities in order to work at my own pace and schedule. After one quick Google search, I found TaskRabbit and the rest is history.
Do you task part-time or full-time?
Full-time
Do you have other jobs or activities that you are involved in?
Yes, I’m also a resource manager for transitioning military veterans. The work is non-profit and very rewarding for people like me who just want to help those in need.
How did you learn your skills?
20 years of military experience taught me how to be efficient in everything that I do.
What were your biggest learnings as you got started on the app?
Communication is KEY! New Clients may not fully understand how TaskRabbit works, so it’s important to keep them apprised every step of the way. I always prioritize the comfort of my Clients as soon as I’m booked for a task, and I never leave until they’re 100% satisfied.
Can you share how you’ve built your career/business on TaskRabbit?
I provide each of my Clients with a business card that contains my Tasker link and encourage them to rate and review me if they liked my services, and–if possible–to refer me to others. Just doing this has led to greater opportunities that I may not have otherwise received.
Can you describe ways in which TaskRabbit has impacted your life?
As a disabled veteran, I’m on a fixed income that doesn’t pay much. TaskRabbit gives me the opportunity to work at my own comfort and save enough to pay for essentials that we take for granted every day.
Do you have a memorable task experience or a project that you’re especially proud of?
All of my tasks are memorable. I love chatting with Clients as I work because each one of them has their own story to tell. I’ve been hired by people from all walks of life–to me, they’re all special in their own way.
Do you have a specialty that Clients hire you for?
Most Clients hire me for Cleaning and Organizing.
What makes you successful as a Tasker?
The majority of my Clients recognize that I’m very detail oriented. I’m responsive and I also have a knack for turning a cluttered and chaotic environment into one that’s neatly organized and orderly.
Do you have any suggestions for Clients who are looking to book a Tasker for the first time?
Make sure that you are as detailed as possible in your task description. The more you can tell your Tasker, the better. For example, instead of saying you need a Tasker to help with “cleaning”, specify whether you need a “surface clean” or a “deep clean”. They are two very different things.
What are your personal interests or hobbies outside of tasking?
I love running and reading.

Since last year, TaskRabbit has played a major role in helping Rebecca earn a meaningful income and give back to her community. Now, the D.C.-based Tasker is able to help her Clients get organized through the service she provides. Keep up the great work, Rebecca! What part of her story resonates most with you?
