#TaskerSpotlight: Raymond J.

Meet Raymond J., a 5-star rated Tasker based out of the Ann Arbor/Detroit area. Tasking was a natural fit for Raymond, who says in his Tasker profile profile that he’s been handy since childhood, “fixing bicycles and changing tires in the neighborhood.” Raymond channeled those skills and interests into being an entrepreneur, having started out on TaskRabbit to make extra income on the side and support his family. But during the 2 years that he’s been tasking, he’s been able to walk away from his day job and focus on building his own business full-time.

Read on to hear more about Raymond’s story and how he stands out to Clients.

Why did you become a Tasker?

To earn supplemental income after the birth of my daughter.

How did you find out about TaskRabbit? What interested you in TaskRabbit vs. another platform?

A Google search. TaskRabbit has been the most transparent and smooth platform compared to other competitors.

Do you task part-time or full-time?

Full-time.

Do you have other jobs or activities that you are involved in?

Stock day trading and developing my own business.

How did you learn your skills?

I’ve always been a handy person, and am proficient with all the necessary tools to complete any assembly task. I’ve learned by doing, as well as by working with other Taskers.

What were your biggest learnings as you got started on the app?

I’ve honed my mounting skills and learned what tools were the most beneficial to have for each type of task!

Can you share how you’ve built your career/business on TaskRabbit? For example, how do you market yourself?

I tell my story about how I started tasking. I use a professional profile picture and let potential Clients know that I am hardworking. I also let my 5 star rating speak for itself!

Can you describe ways in which TaskRabbit has impacted your life?

TaskRabbit has given me the freedom to quit my day job, learn new skills, meet tons of great Clients, and spend more time with my family by setting my own schedule. I am now the go-to assembly person in my family.

Do you have a memorable task experience or a project that you’re especially proud of? Or have you made any meaningful connections with Clients or fellow Taskers that you’d like to share?

I assembled an entire entertainment system for a high-end Client. They were very nice and appreciative of my work. I’ve also assembled many IKEA Pax wardrobes in closets that were very small and therefore almost impossible to hold furniture in. Some even required customization in order to make everything fit!

Do you have a specialty that Clients hire you for?

Clients love my ability to mount TVs/shelves. Not everyone knows how to mount things properly or use the right tools, so they appreciate my help.

What makes you successful as a Tasker?

Being courteous, on time, knowledgeable, and hardworking with minimal distractions.

Can you describe any tasking experience through which you were able to support members of your community during the COVID-19 pandemic?

I had a Client who had to switch his workplace from his office to his home. I assembled many items in his house including a large desk, security cameras, and even a specialty safe!

Do you have any suggestions for Clients who are looking to book a Tasker for the first time?

Check reviews! Also, look at pictures to see the Tasker’s work.

What are your personal interests or hobbies outside of tasking?

Stocks, exercising, and weightlifting.

Raymond’s story demonstrates that when you have the ability to help others out–like Raymond has been able to do with Clients looking for Mounting and Furniture Assembly help, among other categories– tasking is a great option to meet your personal and professional goals (and help others in the process).

3 Thoughts

  1. How you’re doing Raymond? I’m Jose P/T Tasker in the Metro Orlando area. Read your spotlight. Working Weekends not getting requests on weekends. Have a full time as an Industrial Electrician became a Tasker like you for the extra income, work is just not rolling in. Can you give me any advice to see what I’m doing different.

  2. Great inspiration for both new and old Taskers.
You can become an entrepreneur from gathering experience from TaskRabbit.
TaskRabbit can impact our lives and that of our communities just like that of Raymond.
    Keep on!!

    Charles F.
