Why did you become a Tasker?
I lost my retail job due to COVID-19 in March 2020. I relentlessly searched for new work–then I discovered TaskRabbit and fell in love! I was tired of corporate gigs that were mundane and repetitive–I don’t think I’ll ever go back. Tasking gives me the freedom and independence that I’ve been craving since I began working. I love the variety and adventure it offers! I’ve met some incredible Clients, and explored new areas. It’s different every time and it keeps life fresh! It’s so custom, you choose what sort of jobs you’d like to take, and life is more interesting this way!
How did you find out about TaskRabbit?
Google and IKEA. There wasn’t another competitor I’d heard of.
How did you learn your skills?
I’ve always been a hands-on learner, someone very curious about the world around me. I’m constantly looking to teach myself as much as possible and I’ve learned even more that I had no idea I could do through this app.
What were your biggest learnings as you got started on the app?
I’ve assembled things bigger than me! I’ve decorated, organized and painted an entire 2-story, 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home on my own. I’ve helped someone move, helped another pack (and unpack). I also did a grocery shopping task for one Client who introduced me to an awesome market I hadn’t heard of!
Can you share how you’ve built your career/business on TaskRabbit?
It seems I don’t have to market myself much! I’ve gotten task invitations quite easily by just opening my availability as much as I’d like. Some Clients have referred me to others because I do good work and I’m personable.
Can you describe ways in which TaskRabbit has impacted your life?
Tasking is so flexible! I can do whatever and be whoever I want with the customization of it. I’ve already reached many goals and got caught up on bills that I had been behind on due to the pandemic.
Do you have a memorable task experience or a project that you’re especially proud of?
My favorite task was when a family hired me to help organize their home for a few hours. They ended up loving my work so much that they had me come back and transform the whole house over time! It came out amazing, and we actually bonded. They are now close friends of mine.
Do you have a specialty that Clients hire you for?
Decor and organization!
What makes you successful as a Tasker?
I’m friendly, prompt, and communicative.
Can you describe any tasking experience through which you were able to support members of your community during the COVID-19 pandemic?
After I completed an organization task, I not only was able to donate items from the Client’s home, but also was able to extend some of those items to people who I knew were in need in my community.
Do you have any suggestions for Clients who are looking to book a Tasker for the first time?
Give your Tasker a chance! Trust them if they say they can do it–odds are it’s one of their specialties, and you’ll be more than satisfied after.
What are your personal interests or hobbies outside of tasking?
Playing the violin, hula hooping and making jewelry!
