A Tasker since 2015, Nate D. takes great pride in his work–and it shows, especially through his rave reviews. Unfortunately, Nate has had to take a break from tasking while he recovers from cancer and is running a fundraising campaign to cover his medical costs. Read on to learn how Nate’s positive energy has made him successful on the platform, and on his healing path.

What did you do for a living before becoming a Tasker?
I did HR and electrical planning.
What is the primary reason why you joined TaskRabbit?
I started tasking part time for extra income.
What were your biggest learnings as you got started on the app?
I’ve learned how to quickly transition thinking of a Client as just a person that hired a stranger online, into someone who had confidence in my ability. This has really empowered me.
How do you market yourself to Clients?
My reviews are one way, but I also share pictures of completed work, and use business cards.
What is your best tasking memory, or the most meaningful connection you’ve made through tasking?
There are so many! Generally, I’ve had many Clients who have worked alongside me. They’ve kept me company with conversation and we’ve exchanged life experiences, philosophies, and beliefs. One Client had a 3 year old son who followed me around the house with his plastic set of tools. It was the cutest thing! He had tons of questions and I was happy to answer them as I worked through the task to-do list.
What are some of your go-to tasking tips and tricks?
First is that I stay organized. I can’t carry all my tools around at once so if I have to go to my vehicle for an item, I make sure it’s quick and the Client knows I’m not stalling to charge them extra time. I always have drywall anchors, screws, nails, drywall spackle, etc. It wows Clients when you can fix something without having to go to the hardware store!
How has TaskRabbit impacted your life?
It allowed me to get out of the office. That was freeing but also stressful at first. Then I realized how self sufficient I could be! Being my own boss gave me a huge amount of confidence in my ability to thrive. Tasking also enabled me to continue working in the midst of a sudden move I made to a new area. I re-drew my map and stayed active on the platform!
As much as I’ve loved tasking over the last 5 years, I’ve had to take some time to focus on my health. I’ve chosen a healing path to help me battle cancer, and started a GoFundMe page to help raise the costs for treatment. I find that many people in my situation like to know about other options beyond Standard of Care chemotherapy.
What’s your best advice for other Taskers? What do you want to know from other Taskers?
Be a great listener, organized, professional, and Client-centric. These tips should score you great reviews and repeat business x10!
What I want to know from other Taskers is if they invest their earnings? (Editor’s note: Feel free to respond in the comment section below!)
What do you do to score great reviews (and tips)?
My every action is geared to satisfy my Client. When I arrive organized, rested, and positive, my Client returns the same energy. I’m grateful, they are grateful. I never expect a tip, but I always give maximum effort, take pride in my work, and only deliver a final product that I myself would be happy with.

Nate parlayed tasking from a part-time gig to earn additional income into full-time work. You’ve probably gleaned from his story what his secret sauce is made of. Nate told us “I can’t wait to get back to tasking!”–and we second that emotion!
I invest earnings in biotech stocks related to medical progress on cancer and covid-19.
Nate, may you find faith and happiness in the midst of your trial. I look forward to hearing another great report from you.
