TaskRabbit is thrilled to be launching in Spain, starting in Barcelona! Did you know?
- Spanish is the world’s second most spoken language (after Mandarin Chinese)
- But there are other official languages in Spain too: Catalan, Galician, Basque and Occitan
- FC Barcelona is the most popular soccer club in Spain and one of the most popular in the world!
- Although Barcelona is considered one of the world’s best beach-front cities, Spain is ripe with them–Malaga, Alicante, Valencia, and San Sebastian, to name a few–plus famous islands like Ibiza, Mallorca and the Canaries!
Spain is a treasure chest of sights, sounds, and tastes–and Barcelona, situated on Spain’s Mediterranean coast, is one of its beautiful gems. Planning a visit?

Stroll down Las Ramblas, Barcelona’s famous tree lined pedestrian path, for an admittedly touristy but engaging introduction to the city. Don’t miss La Boqueria, a food market that has been operating since the year 1217, and wait in line at Bar Pinotxo (or book a Tasker to wait in line for you!). Once you’ve filled up on small bites like pa amb tomàquet, get your sugar rush in at Rocambolesc for whimsical ice cream. Or visit the charming carrer Petritxol, known as the street of chocolate, and enjoy a cup of cocoa at Granja Pallaresa.

With your belly full, you can feast your eyes on the architectural works of art by Antoni Gaudí–most famously, the Sagrada Família church, which has been under construction since 1882–in addition to apartment buildings Casa Batlló and Casa Milà. Another Gaudí treat is Park Güell, where you can explore colorful mosaics, the Austria Gardens, and watch tourists and locals alike take it all in.
For even more color and culture, check out Barcelona’s museums dedicated to the artists Pablo Picasso (maybe you’ve heard of him?) and Joan Miró (you can take the Montjuïc cable car to the Fundació Miró for spectacular city views!). Not in a museum mood? Check out the neighborhoods Barceloneta and Poble Sec to get immersed in local culture and lifestyle. Score a table at Cal Pep for its outstanding Spanish tortilla, and end the day at Bar Del Pla for some cava or vermouth and toast “¡Salud!” to the TaskRabbit community’s newest Taskers in the world!
