What did you do for a living before becoming a Tasker?

I gave up my high paying web development job to focus on two things that give me joy: being an online influencer and assembling IKEA furniture.

What is the primary reason why you joined TaskRabbit?

TaskRabbit gives me the flexibility to earn money on my own terms. It’s so freeing to be on my own schedule!

How do you market yourself to Clients?

I always make sure a past Client has my profile link and I encourage them to share it with their friends and family. This helps with building repeat Client tasks and relationships.

What is your best tasking memory?

I knew I’d taken my tasking to the next level after I built a floating IKEA Besta system. Not only did I feel accomplished, but I also felt confident that I could tackle anything else that came my way after that.

What’s your top ice-breaker question you ask Clients? (If they’re present at the task)

I actually like to tell a joke when I have to screw things to the wall: “The only time I can seem to find a stud is when I place the stud finder on myself!” (I of course think I’m hilarious).

What’s your best advice for other Taskers?

Be patient with your Clients. Generally, it’ll be the first time they’ve used TaskRabbit and they are nervous to have you in their home. I always aim to make the Client feel confident in their decision to hire me for their task, and am conscious of my behavior to help them feel more comfortable with me in their home.

How has TaskRabbit impacted your life?

TaskRabbit has brought joy to my life by allowing me to have the freedom to set my availability to when I want. This allows me to do things that I love to do, when I want to do them!

What do you do to unwind?

When I work, I work hard. So, when it’s time to unwind, I rest hard. I’ll watch a show, spend time with my wife, or go to the gym.

  1. Hi Jacob. Do you find most clients understand potentially ‘ how long ‘ it can take to build IKEA furniture and the potential to go over the anticipated build time??

    1. Hi Robert

I finish the furniture ahead of time, but only if I have enough space available for example: It’s kinda hard to assemble a double pax in a box room when you are working solo.
Took me 45 minutes more to figure it out (had to turn it around like a rubik’s cube to fit in the back panels etc…)
On the other hand doing an assembly in an office is quite simple especially when you go outside of their working hours.
If you need advice feel free to ask any questions.
      Im working in London btw

    2. They sometimes have unrealistic expectations but it’s usually only for hourly. Under the flat rate clients are mostly happy with how long it takes us because as they always tell me, “it would take me weeks or months to finish this!” they are usually amazed at the time it takes!
