#TaskerTuesday–Joshua H.

Formerly a professional bike racer, Joshua H. has found his ideal work/life balance through TaskRabbit–he gets to pick up his kids from school every day and never has to miss a sporting event or a school play. More time with his kids aside, Joshua also earns more than he did in any prior 9-to-5 job. Sounds like a win-win to us!

Want to see proof of how much Joshua is thriving on TaskRabbit? Check out what he’s built using found objects in addition to his almost 1,000 Help Moving tasks completed.

What is the primary reason why you joined TaskRabbit?

After 15 years, I retired from the sport of professional bike racing. I decided to devote myself to pursuing a career in writing, which is why I came out to L.A. after attending film school at NYU. While I get my writing career going, TaskRabbit is a perfect way to pay the bills and create the ideal life/work balance. It allows me to pick up my kids every day from school. And as a mover I get great exercise–it’s like bike racing in that I get paid for using my body.

How do you market yourself to Clients?

I’m your 🛠Friend With a Truck 🛠(when you don’t have a friend with the truck). It’s a simple slogan I came up with for myself, and it seems to really resonate with Clients.

What makes a good Client?

One of my strengths is reading people and then connecting with them. Whether a Client is stressed or friendly or annoyed, I’m always able to tailor the experience to their needs. It’s one of the challenges that I love about this job.

What’s your best advice for other Taskers?

Never take an adversarial approach to Clients–it’s a terrible way to approach things. If the Client has a problem, it’s up to you as the Tasker to take the reins and guide the task patiently in the right direction.

What’s your hidden talent?image3image1

I build and repurpose things. So far, I’ve built my kids a basketball court, a treehouse, a climbing wall, and exercising area–all with scraps of wood that I’ve found on the side of the road and items that have been gifted to me from Clients (see photos!).

We love Joshua’s “friend with a truck” brand and clearly Clients do too–his reviews are outstanding! The virtuous cycle of a confident Tasker doing great work and earning great reviews, which leads to more Clients finding and hiring you, is what the task management network is all about.
