Meet Elle C., a self-appointed “eco-friendly Marie Kondo”–who just wishes she could apply this talent to her own closet! Elle has been tasking in New York City for over 3 years, and in that time has built her brand on the platform and gained numerous repeat Clients. Read on to learn about how her commitment to the environment spans her professional life as a Tasker and personal life as a mother.
What did you do for a living before becoming a Tasker?
I was a Sales Representative at a running specialty store.
What is the primary reason why you joined TaskRabbit?
I was drawn to the flexibility, the ability to change my rates when I want to, and the ability to select tasks that I want to do.
How do you market yourself to Clients?
I incorporate eco-consciousness and eco-responsibility into my personal Tasker brand. My goal is to “leave it better” and to exceed my Client’s expectations. I also strive to provide open communication and to be prompt.
What is your best tasking memory?
I’ve had a handful of story-worthy tasks, but one favorite is helping one of Bob Marley’s granddaughters relocate to her new apartment!
What is the most meaningful connection you’ve made through tasking?
Every task, whether it’s a one-time task or an ongoing task, teaches me something new about myself. I’m proud to be a Tasker. I meet really interesting, eccentric people.
What’s your best advice for other Taskers?
Take pride in your work. Don’t undersell yourself. Remember that you are your business. Build a strong brand.
How has TaskRabbit impacted your life?
As a single mother, I realized that I’m not a typical 9-5, sit behind-a-desk type of person. TaskRabbit has allowed me to earn good money that reflects my work ethic. I take pride in every task and know that I deserve my 100% rating.
What do you do to unwind?
I like to be in nature when I can. I am a Tree Steward with City Parks and help keep trees free of dog waste and litter. I like to find and attend free events about the environment, food justice, and lifestyles that reduce waste. I’m also a distance runner and just competed in my fourth New York City Marathon–my tenth marathon in total!
