#TaskerTuesday-Cyd M.

When it comes to creative problem-solving, Cyd M. is the man for the job! A Tasker for over two years, Cyd knows what it means to deliver premium customer service. His best advice to other Taskers?

“Communicate with the Client with clear goals in mind.”

When Cyd isn’t tasking, you can catch him setting the ambience at events dressing up in handmade costumes. *Picture for proof!

What did you do for a living before becoming a Tasker?

I was in software development and support.

What’s the primary reason you joined TaskRabbit?

TaskRabbit provides a way for me to make income by applying skills I enjoy. I was craving more time spent working with my hands, and TaskRabbit has given me that opportunity. It barely feels like work!.

What is your best tasking memory?

I once helped a Client MacGuyver a system to hang their folding closet door from a molly bolt and some wire. It’s satisfying when I’m able to help my Clients live easier in an innovative way. That creative aspect keeps me inspired and coming back for more!

What’s your top ice-breaker question you ask Clients? (If they’re present at the task)

I like to start out by asking a broad question, like what’s their vision for the task? How will what I’m doing will impact them? This gets my Client talking about their values and goals and helps me to provide them with the end result they dreamed of.

What’s the most meaningful connection you’ve made through tasking?

My primary goal right now with tasking is to make enough money to move my mom out here to Portland so I can take care of her. Through tasking I actually met someone who’s familiar with the local social service system and she is helping me to plan for mom’s arrival. It was so serendipitous to meet her and I feel so lucky to be able to meet such caring people in my community through TaskRabbit.

What do you do to unwind?

I’m involved with a group that provides a special ambiance to events through group costuming, so I sew and craft fantastic costumes. It gives me life to see the joy and surprise on people’s faces when they see the costumes!

Between creative problem-solving and earning extra income to bring family closer, Cyd is an incredible example of what it means to make life better as a Tasker. He’s enjoyed adding flexibility and a hands-on aspect to his work, which has also helped him be more innovative in his costume-making. Anyone who has the energy after a long day of tasking to throw on a chicken suit and bring joy to those around him is doing something right in our books. Hats (and chicken feathers) off to you, Cyd! 🐓
