What did you do for a living before becoming a Tasker?

I was a corporate trainer at a marketing firm.

What’s the primary reason you joined TaskRabbit?

Time! I needed more time with my family and also time for myself. Joining TaskRabbit helped me manage my time while still allowing me to make good money. I’m currently going back to school to become a chef and that wouldn’t have been possible if not for TaskRabbit.

What helped you accept your first task?

My first task was a Furniture Assembly—something I was familiar with. It’s also a taskI enjoy doing because I love being able to put something together from scratch and get a certain satisfaction from seeing it in it’s complete form. Not to mention the Clients and how happy they are when they can furnish their new apartment or house and that I was able to help make that happen. It’s the best feeling.

What is your best tasking memory?

It was a Furniture Assembly task where I helped complete a partial assembly for lovely grandparents who had attempted to assemble their granddaughter’s toy kitchen set for Christmas.  They had started building it and got stuck. I was happy to step in to help save the day. Their gratitude was amazing and it gave me the best feeling, especially because I also have little girls. Just imagining the look on her face was thanks enough.

What’s the most meaningful connection you’ve made through tasking?

The most meaningful connection I’ve made through tasking was with a couple that hired me in the Painting category. They were selling their house and were in a bit of a pinch trying to get a million things done at once. I was happy to help out and they didn’t even mind getting their hands dirty and painting with me! I’d be happy to go back and help them out anytime they need me.

What’s your best advice to other Taskers?

Be prepared for every task. Planning ahead and having the right tools goes a long way in helping you succeed. To those just starting out on TaskRabbit, don’t be discouraged!s As with any business, things always start out slow, but keep at it and have a positive attitude you’ll steadily build your business—that’s been my experience!

How has TaskRabbit impacted your life?

TaskRabbit has given me back my relationship with my children and time for myself which is always important, as well as the freedom to pursue my career in the culinary arts—all while maintaining my financial security. It’s been one of the most positive and rewarding experiences of my life and for that I thank the TaskRabbit team wholeheartedly!

What’s your hidden talent?

My hidden talent is making something out of nothing in the kitchen, cooking is very important to me but culinary improvisation isn’t easy. Give me just a few ingredients and I’ll make you a three-course meal!
