Baltimore Tasker Christian C. joined TaskRabbit thinking he knew what the sharing economy was all about from his experience as a driver for a popular app. But what he found at TaskRabbit was something quite different—a community, the ability to leverage a variety of skills, and even more flexibility. One competitive advantage he discovered about the flexibility that tasking offers? That he is able to complete tasks with his brother (who’s also a Tasker) when he’s in town.
Continue reading to learn more about Christian’s journey to TaskRabbit and how the values he lives by help him maintain 100% positive reviews.
What did you do for a living before becoming a Tasker?
I worked on another gig economy platform—Lyft.
What brought you to TaskRabbit?
I felt like I had my back to the wall with bills piling up, so I took a chance on TaskRabbit and now I love it 😅. Tasking has been a game changer for me and the people in my life, and I’m so grateful I found it—only wish I’d discovered it sooner!
What is your best tasking memory?
The flexibility of TaskRabbit means you can task in other cities across the country. My favorite memory was having my brother come to Baltimore from Los Angeles and completing team tasks with me. It was so great to task alongside him and accomplish challenging tasks together.
What types of challenges has TaskRabbit allowed you to overcome?
An immense amount to be honest. I am currently using my income from TaskRabbit to travel (and am tasking while traveling!) and help me figure out where I want to start a family. It has given me the freedom to showcase my skills and help those in my community. To sum it up, TaskRabbit has helped me overcome financial, personal, mental, and environmental challenges. Honestly, there is so much to be thankful for—I could write a whole story!
What values and attitudes do you try to live by?
I live in accordance with how the world should be. I try to approach situations by thinking about them from others’ perspectives. Treating others how you would like to be treated is a fundamental value I hold true.
Through tasking, Christian has discovered a sense of community in which he feels he can make a positive impact every day, and ends each day feeling proud of his contribution (especially when tasking alongside his brother!). He also found even greater flexibility than he’d previously experienced—allowing him to get out from under a mountain of debt. We hope wherever Christian ends up settling down, that he’s able to continue tasking and spreading his positivity even further!
Thanks for this, I too feel similarly to the way Christian feels. I think what would get my traveling is knowledge about which cities are the most popular places to task, and a list of tasks that are always in demand.
