Dallas Tasker Toby A.’s talents set him up for success across a wide range of task categories, but we especially love his Skills & Experience pitch for Deep Cleaning: “I started off as a carpet cleaner for 7 years, later transitioned to become an aircraft cleaner, and finally landed in a daycare—where cleaning is a must. I’m the man for your task.”
By sharing his background with a dusting (Deep Clean pun intended!) of charisma and confidence, we’re convinced that he’s the right person for the task across his many categories–including IKEA Assembly, Organization, Yard Work, and many others.
Read on to discover how tasking has empowered Toby professionally and personally, and feel all the feels with the wisdom his mother and grandmother passed down to him—which he lives (and tasks!) by daily.
What did you do for a living before becoming a Tasker?
I was a server at a restaurant inside of a retirement community.
What brought you to TaskRabbit?
I was introduced to TaskRabbit by a family member, who thought it would be a good fit for my skills and personality.
What is your best tasking memory?
My best tasking memory would have to be when I put together a closet with another Tasker. I got along well with both the Client and the other Tasker. The Client was super cool, we all had a great conversation and strategized together on what would be the best way to set up the closet. It was an all-around fun task that I enjoyed.
What types of challenges has TaskRabbit allowed you to overcome?
TaskRabbit has helped me overcome my shyness. I’m a better communicator thanks to my time tasking. I’m more vocal during tasks, because I’ve learned to charge and lead and suggest what I think will work best for the Client based on my experience.
What values and attitudes do you try to live by?
I was always taught by my mother and grandmother to be humble, respectful, and loving even if the people around me aren’t. Someone once told me, “Make every decision out of love and not out of hate.” I’ve been trying to do that ever since.
How has TaskRabbit improved or affected your life? What was the most rewarding thing about your transition to becoming a Tasker?
The ability to create and manage my own work schedule has honestly been the most rewarding aspect. I’m a college student, and the flexibility has allowed me to focus on school and still be able to make money and provide for myself.
Tasking has empowered me to believe in myself and that sharing my opinion is valuable. I now take on leadership roles without second guessing myself, which I would have shied away from previously.
Is there anything else you’d like to tell Taskers?
I wish the Tasker community all the best! I’ve worked with of few of you, and it’s always a great experience. I know we’re all trying to make ends meet, or build our businesses, or get a little extra money to put in our pockets to travel, go out, attend school, support family, or other awesome things. At the end of the day, we’re all working toward the same goal. Let’s grow together.
To echo Toby’s sentiments, we’re consistently impressed by our Tasker community. As TaskRabbit expands into new cities and countries, growing together is happening literally and figuratively! We can’t wait to meet all the new tasking faces who will soon be joining us—and be inspired by what they achieve and aspire to do!
Seems like a hard worker. Props to you!
