We’re so excited that we’re just going to come out and say it: TaskRabbit is expanding to a new country for the first time in five years! That’s right—on September 18, we launched our platform in Canada, our close neighbor to the north. Our first metro there is Toronto!
Whether it’s the majestic beauty of British Columbia or the zealous hockey fans of Ontario, we love this country, and we’re thrilled to be bringing our unique and flexible tasking platform to this part of the world.
If you haven’t been to the vast country of Canada, here are some fun facts you might not know:
- Coastline, coastline, coastline. Did you realize Canada has the longest seashore of any country in the world? At over 200,000 kilometers, it covers a crazy distance. We doubt anyone has ever walked the whole thing on foot.
- The beloved Winnie the Pooh would not exist were it not for Canada. In 1915, a bear cub named Winnipeg was transported from Canada to the London Zoo. A young boy nicknamed the bear cub Winnie. That boy’s name happened to be Christopher Robin Milne, whose father, A. A. Milne, was a writer. The rest, as they say, is history.
- Canada’s modern name came from a misunderstanding between French explorer Jacques Cartier and a St. Lawrence Iroquoian local, who invited him to the nearby “kanata,” or village. Jacques Cartier thought the indigenous man was telling him the name of the country.
We’re so excited that Canada will be the third country where we operate, and that it’s setting the stage for even more international expansion! With this will come new and wider brand awareness of TaskRabbit, which means you, our Taskers, will have even more Clients wanting to do away with their to-dos!
