At TaskRabbit, we believe in and celebrate diversity in all of its forms. And every June, we are delighted to celebrate Pride with our community! Celebrating Pride means promoting self-affirmation, dignity, and equal rights for all, and taking a stance against LGBTQIA discrimination and violence. We believe it’s important for people from all walks of life take time to reflect on what it means to be truly accepting and accepted. The idea of celebrating all people is built into everything we do here, and everyone—regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender, or background—is welcome on our platform.
Here, Taskers and TaskRabbit employees share what Pride means to them:
“I grew up in a small, conservative agriculture town with very few openly LGBTQ role models. Living there, it was hard to see a future where I would ever be able to be openly gay. When I moved away to college, my world opened up and I found myself able to finally picture that future.
When you’re struggling and in the closet, it’s important to remember that there are people out there who support you and who love you. Just remember that if you are struggling, you are not alone, you are not unlovable, and there is nothing wrong with you.”– Brandy M., Tasker
“Pride is the antidote to shame. It’s about defying the old norms, and not letting ourselves be ignored.”– Kyle Y., TaskRabbit Engineer
“ I am a gay person, and the challenges I have to overcome on a daily basis are plentiful. I would love to live in a world where diversity is a virtue, and where everyone can live and love next to each other without hate. Be proud, be you, be as out and bold as you want to be, or blend in if that is your thing. Just don’t ever let anyone put out your candle!”– Claire F., Tasker
“Pride is a time to celebrate and come together to lift each other up. It’s also a time to remember the spirit of Stonewall and the importance of community, diversity, and activism.”– Ida G., TaskRabbit Community Associate
One of our goals at TaskRabbit is to help everyone live lives they can be proud of, no matter who they are or where they come from. Embracing diversity and standing up for social justice doesn’t just help us uplift and embrace different types of people. It also helps us bring people closer together—which always has a positive effect on the world.
